Honda Civic EX No Start

obd2 scanner Car Engine Specs of 2004 Honda Civic EX:

2004 engine model with 2.0 L engine with distributorless ignition.

Symptoms:

This Honda Civic EX No Start started with a mechanical engine repair arising from a bent connecting rod after the engine overheated. All defective parts were replaced properly and as per engine specifications. However, when the engine was started, it would only turn over but not fired up. No codes were present when scanned because the scanner would not worked while the diagnostic plug was attached to the vehicle.

Diagnostics on 2004 Honda Civic EX No Start:

Check all the engine compression and they were within limits

During no starts, the security light would show up at the dash panel but the scanner would not communicate with the engine PCM.

Checked the PCM terminal pins for power and ground supplies with a digital voltmeter and all voltage readings were OK. Tried a used PCM from a salvage yard to save some money but still the engine would not start. (According to the salvage yard, the PCM was working when they stocked it).

Finally ordered a new PCM from the the Honda dealer from out of town and the engine started. However, we have to tow the vehicle to the dealer to have the PCM reprogrammed.

Notes:
