Symptoms:

This 2006 Mustang with 4.6L engine has a flashing abs code. when we scan for abs code it says no communication with key on engine off (KOEO).

Diagnostics for 2006 Mustang abs code:

Since this 2000 Mustang abs code has no scanner communication, we manually checked the abs module terminal pins for power (pin 32) and ground supply (pins 16 and 45) integrity and both were OK. All of these pins are shown in the abs wiring diagram including the color of the wires.

Checked all 4 wheels sensors behind the wheels and all wiring harness plugins were OK. Same wheel sensor wires are also shown in the wiring diagram and it also showed the color of the plugin connections at the wheel sensor. Also checked and cleaned the wheel sensor probe/reluctor surfaces for mud and dirt. Sprayed wheel sensor wire connectors with electrical contact cleaner.

Checked all brake pedal position switch wirings and terminal pin 2 shows 12 volts. Checked continuity at terminal pin 1 connected to pin 6 at abs module and the resistance readings were within limits.

Followed abs module pin 16 and 45 at ground connections at the left front of engine compartment and it seems corroded. Tried wiggling the ground wires and the scanner started acting up (no communication flashing at koeo). Removed the 2 ground wires, cleaned the ends and reconnected the ground wires after spraying with electrical contact cleaner. Now the scanner is communicating with the abs module. Reset the code and the abs no communication signal is gone.

Notes:

Whenever, there is no communication during scanning, make sure to check the ground abs module ground wires for corrosion and tightness at the ground terminal.
