No start for 2000 Pontiac Grand AM with 2.4L engine: NO CODES
Question:
I have this car that won’t start especially in the morning. Sometimes, if you crank it really long, it will finally start. When I tested the spark it seems to loose spark and quit after a few cranks. There is no codes or any light flashing in the dash. Anyways, I changed both crank sensor and ignition module but it seems I am back to square one: no starting in the morning or when engine is cold. Do you have any suggestion?
ATS Adviser:
If after changing the crank sensor and ignition module and still won’t start, I would check the wires coming fro your ignition switch by your steering column. The switch itself is known to do this based on your symptoms and checking the wires would verify that. You can also try wiggling those wires and if suddenly the engine starts, you know the ignition switch is bad.
