Extreme Check Engine Light Codes

Code 15 for 1993 Honda Accord with 2.2L engine

1993 Honda Accord distributor

Question:

I have this 1993 Honda Accord with intermittent check engine light coming on. When I got the code, it was code 15 which means ignition output signal. This code is accompanied by occasional stalling. My friend mechanic who works from Honda dealership; advised me to replace the distributor which I did using a remanufactured one from a local parts store. This did not fix the problem and I wonder if my engine computer needs replacing too. Suggestion?

ATS Adviser:

Honda computer has a low rate of failure unless a cause by human error like accidental shorting of wires. In this case, I would ask you to return your remanufactured distributor and get one from Honda instead. If not, try testing the module or igniter for voltage supply and test the negative side of the ignition coil for dwell while cranking. (The latter can also be tested using a test light and see if it will blink during cranking).

Tips:

This assumes all the ground wires are cleaned especially at thermostat housing. This also assumes your main relay is good.
